Allen Iverson retires from basketball…

Sad evening forsports fan just came in a few hours ago. the NBA bad boy Allen Iverson has formally announced his retirement from basketball. Iverson played both shooting guard and point guard positions in the NBA. Many people around him suspected the retirement but everyone was hoping it wasn’t going to happen. No worries though, Iverson is retiring as part of sports history! Here’s what Iverson had to say at the Wells Fargo Center, “The passion is still there but the desire to play is not. It was a great ride,” ESPN. Inverson,  in Hampton, Virginia has been been praised for his athleticism since High School. After attending Georgetown University for two years he broke the school record setting 22.9 points per game! This made him eligible for the 1996 NBA draft.

He was the number one pick for the Philadelphia 76ers and was named “Rookie of the year” in 96-97 season. No doubt the highlight of Inverson’s career was during the first 10 years with the Sixers. A wrap sheet long of wins and recognition…both in the NBA and overseas. All his wins boil down to this… Iverson is noted to be the most prolific scorer in the NBA history. Following his retirement statement Iverson took to twitter sending out a message to all of his fans as you see in the above pic…

Iverson, 38, has declined to address all the media hype surrounding many claims and stories that has hit entertainment news since he began his career. They include though are not limited to suspected addictions issues, infidelity rumors, gambling, financial crises and more. Despite controversies surrounding the athlete one thing that stays constant is the love from his fans. No matter the wild dramas Iverson’s fans stay forgiving as he too has joined the league of historic basketball players of our time. Too bad he’s retiring but we wish him the best of luck!
